Adam Szyikowski

A mixed media artist who lives in Woodstock , Virginia, USA. He is an earth-loving woodworker who obtained his Bachelor's of Science from Radford University in Engineering Geology. He is the sole owner/operator of House of Wood and Stone, through which he creates and sells handmade works of art. Some of his most beautiful creations are from locally foraged wood which he carves and then inlays with precious gems and crushed crystals. His unique pieces are inspired by his materials. Each stone has a story to tell, each wood has unique patterns, and he combines it all to create unique items of all sorts. He has been taking an eclectic path to research and learning of old-world pantheons and traditions for over a decade and began vending at regional festivals since 2012. As an openly pagan scientist, Adam believes that science can explain variations in crystal frequencies that go beyond color and chemical composition. His workshop presents some simplified geologic concepts and why those principles effect the metaphysical properties of rocks and minerals.

Denise

Experiences that have strengthened her commitment: Clerk at the feminist/ lesbian 31st St Book Store in Baltimore; working as a stripper for 4four years on Baltimore's infamous 'Block;' teaching OB-GYN protocol to medical students with Johns Hopkins;  a decade of Costume Design in the Baltimore theater community; directing and acting in various productions of the Vagina Monologues; a brief three year purgatory in the corporate world as an Event Planner; Event Coordinator for the Spiral Dance Women's Center, where she also taught sex and reproductive health workshops; vending and educating for over six years in the mid-Atlantic Pagan community with her version of The Red Tent; facilitating the annual adult only Sexperiments at THE Beltane and The Inner Sanctum at Blue Ridge Beltane. She has been making music and writing poetry for over 20 years, her current musical project is Red Wound. Creating art, music and sacred space for womyn has been her joy and salvation.

The Red Tent - A Sacred Space and a Sacred Movement for Womyn

I first set out to create a sacred space for womyn to explore their sexuality and learn about reproductive health. After reading The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, I was compelled to learn more about empowering with your moon cycles and wanted to somehow integrate this knowledge into the sacred space, this just made sense to me. After a year of doing this work, it was amazing to discover other womyn had the same calling and Red Tents have now manifested all over the world. I am very proud to be a part of this celebration and to be a part of reclaiming the tradition of moon lodges and to facilitate sacred space for womyn. What you will find in this Red Tent is an open and comfortable environment that is lush in sensual colors and fabrics. A place of empowerment and healing. The Red Tent is open to every womyn from those that have just begun their moon times to the wise crones of the community. [The Red Tent I facilitate can be inclusive of teenage girls or adult womyn only]
